A huge THANK YOU to the 35 incredible volunteers from all ages and backgrounds who pulled up their sleeves and did the hard work of bagging and hauling out household goods, six chairs, four mattresses, 7 tires, and random garbage from the forest floor. Together, spanning a 3-acre site, we removed approximately 3060 pounds of trash.
The location is now restored to its natural beauty, where the neighborhood children and families can recreate and enjoy a pristine forest.
A very special THANK YOU: With only a week’s notice, we mobilized 35 volunteers to clean a 3-acre illegal dump site. This effort removed approximately four tons of trash from the National Forest. We were proud to collaborate with Forest Service Recreational District employees Bryon Bushatz, Kimi Bechtol, Randy Roth, and Casey Shaffer, as well as personnel from Station 11 Sky Forest and Station 14 Cottonwood.
The site was nearly inaccessible, and the round-trip hiking into the dumpsite was 300 yards. Without the help of a multi-agency emergency response, the trash could have been in the forest for several decades if not longer. 🚛
We couldn’t have done it without your hard work, dedication, and love for our mountain community.
Let’s keep this momentum going as we care for the places we all cherish. 🌱
